Richard Sloan was a North American wildlife artist born in Chicago, Illinois on the year of 1935. He attended the America Academy of Art and became an illustrator before later working for Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. Soon after, he stopped his work to pursue rain forests all over the world for his inspiration and became a wildlife painter.
In his life, he has visited many visits to places all over the world such as Amazon Basin, Peruvian Andes, Guatemala, Trinidad and many more. His passion was recognized by National Geographic Society’s Explore Hall, American Museum of Natural History, and many many more and he held exhibitions there. In 1979, he was claimed by Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum to be Master Wildlife Artist.
His works are now in collections all over the world and hold special spot in museums such as Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Illinois State Museum, and many more.
